Description
The premium most grade of Burma Teak wood is referred to as “M” Grade. “M” Grade has a high content of oil and very low occurrence of knots and little or no pin holes and wastages due to “whites” are very less. It is 30 to 40% costlier. One may commonly find pin holes in the non “M” Grade species which is not a defect. Good availability and is the common form of Teak that is available to buy. Teak is a yellowish brown timber with good grains and texture. It is used in the manufacture of wooden outdoor furniture, boat decks, and other articles where weather resistance is desired. It is also used for cutting boards, indoor flooring, countertops and as a veneer for indoor furnishings. Teak, though easily worked, can cause severe blunting on edged tools because of the presence of silica in the wood. Teak’s natural oils make it useful in exposed locations, and make the timber termite and pest resistant.
